• The needles used are extremely thin, and most people experience little to no discomfort. You may feel a brief, mild sensation when the needles are inserted, which typically fades within a few seconds. Mild sensations such as pressure, heaviness, or temporary soreness during or after treatment are common and typically short-lived.

Please let your acupuncturist know if you have any concerns about needles or discomfort during your appointment. Most patients find the treatment relaxing. Your comfort is always a priority, and the treatment can be adjusted in many ways to help you feel at ease. Acupuncture is most effective when your body is relaxed, so we will work together to ensure you are comfortable throughout the session.

  • Please complete all required intake paperwork prior to your appointment. This helps ensure we can use your visit time efficiently and focus fully on your care.

Arrive well hydrated and try to eat a light meal or snack 1-2 hours prior to your appointment. Wear loose, comfortable clothing that can easily be rolled above the elbows and knees. If treatment requires access to areas not easily reached through your clothing, you may be asked to remove or adjust clothing as needed. A cover sheet will be provided at all times to ensure your comfort and privacy.

Following treatment, try to stay well hydrated and allow yourself time to rest. If you have questions or concerns after your session, please send a message through the Patient Portal or call the clinic.

  • Dry needling and acupuncture both use very thin needles and can help reduce pain, but they are based on different approaches to care.

Dry needling is a technique used by physical therapists, chiropractors, and other medical providers. It focuses on treating tight or painful muscles, often called trigger points, to reduce tension, improve movement, and relieve musculoskeletal pain. Dry needling does not follow traditional acupuncture theory and is usually limited to pain complaints.

Acupuncture is part of a traditional medical system that looks at the whole person, not just the area of pain. Acupuncturists consider factors like stress, sleep, digestion, and overall health when creating a treatment plan. While acupuncture is often used for pain, it is also used to support many other health concerns.

Acupuncturists may use dry needling—often called trigger point therapy—in their approach to pain complaints, but often include points elsewhere in the body in addition to local points to support healing.

  • We have the following payment policies in place:

    • Payment is due in full at the time of your visit.

    • Payment can be made by Check, Debit/Credit cards, and HSA/FSA cards.

    • Cancellations: We require 24 hours notice for all cancellations or rescheduling. This allows us to offer the time slot to another patient on our waitlist. Cancellations made with less than 24 hours notice or “no-shows” will incur a $50 fee.

  • We are a private-pay clinic and do not bill insurance companies directly. However, you may still be able to use your benefits:

    • We gladly accept HSA and FSA cards.

    • Upon request, we can provide you with a Superbill (a medical receipt with standard coding). You can submit this to your insurance provider to seek reimbursement directly from them.

    • We recommend calling your insurance company and asking if they cover "out-of-network acupuncture" to see what your specific plan allows.

  • Our mission is to provide affordable acupuncture and herbal medicine to the community. We reserve space for sliding-scale patients every week—no questions asked.
